| Me on my first trip to London in 2010 |
I cannot even begin to describe how surreal this all feels right now.
A little while ago a friend and
Typically these are little white lies we all tell ourselves to hide the fact that it may be a very long time (if ever) before we see said friend again. I was just starting to really get to know Ashley (the friend I'm chasing across the world) and I wanted to hang out more - and I also wanted to go to London. So, I decided to use her as a coy to mask my selfish travel desires - completely kidding, love you! And after a few chats and FaceTime calls from France, I booked a ticket to London!
It's the first time in my life that I'll be flying alone and traveling without a solid game plan, which is the reason why at 20 years old I got my very first credit card - so if I start to starve or sleep on the streets I have some sort of support.
I've been researching backpacking blogs like crazy and in all honesty, I wish I didn't have to go back to school in September because I've been feeling the inspiration to just pack up and travel the world. But in the meantime, this trip is good practice.
I've never been away for more than 18 days before, and that was with my family so I have no idea how this is going to play out. I've been not-so-secretly trying to convince my mom to visit me the last week I'm there so I can eat some decent food.
I have a million things to do before I leave and I'll keep posting updates of things that may be helpful to those considering a trip like this! (travel and accommodation costs, packing lists etc.)
AH! I just want to scream I'm so excited!!
Thanks for reading this far,
Kyle
